SPRAWL zero Builds and Loadouts
Playstyles you can actually keep when you only hold one gun.
A build in SPRAWL zero is not a skill tree screenshot. You cannot socket a shotgun. You can commit to an adrenaline habit, a range preference, and a rule for when you throw. These loadouts are those rules. Use them with the weapon tier list and augments. New players should finish Getting Started first.
Each build assumes the Steam demo kit. After September 8, mastery paths and relics will add modifiers. The habits below should still be the spine.
Captain Hunter (Bullet-Time first)
Goal: delete the squad leader, then clean outlines through walls. Spend adrenaline on Bullet-Time as soon as you see a rank-looking silhouette. Strafe, do not sprint. Dump a sniper or a high-tier rifle, throw, pull anything, finish the glowing leftovers with Shield if they dump back.
Best guns: sniper from The Graveyard stealth line, then any high colour-tier rifle. Worst guns: pipe jokes, because you need a round on the captain now.
Play this on Formidable once you understand stim refunds. It is the combat page turned into a routine.
Return-to-Sender (Gravity Shield first)
Goal: win volley fights on Buried streets and the bridge. Enter rooms with the bar at least half full. Let the squad dump, catch, throw their magazine down the alley, then move. Never admire the particle effect.
Best guns: anything you can empty during the brief window after a returned volley — shotguns in interiors, rifles on streets. Pair with Junta specials if an Amalgam is in the mix.
This is the safest difficulty climb. Unstoppable players can learn the timing; Martyr players need it or they eat grenades.
Door Kicker (Rushdown first)
Goal: close after information, not before. Wait for a captain death or a Shield catch, then smash the knot. Close-range specials only. If you Rushdown a foggy street, you have built a funeral.
Best guns: fire shotguns, short rifles, thrown barrels. Worst: snipers you are emotionally attached to.
Stim greed is mandatory. You will empty the bar on the charge; you need kills that drop refunds. Read abilities until the sprint-cancel rule is boring.
Quiet Compound (stealth Graveyard)
Goal: high routes, sniper captain, skip the loud courtyard. Scan for the destination, then ignore the obvious street. Punch isolated patrols. Do not test Shield here because you may not have it yet.
This is a first-level build, not a campaign identity. Buried will force noise. Use the demo walkthrough for the actual sniper pickup line.
Physics Gremlin (gloves first)
Goal: treat guns as optional. Pull barrels, throw medkits for the double heal-and-hurt, catch your own round, punch holes. Still grab Junta specials for Amalgams — ideology is not a build.
This is how you learn that controls matter more than a tier list. It is also how you die on Martyr if you refuse every rifle. Mix it into other builds as a habit, not as a full identity on a first Unstoppable run.
Shared rules for every build
- One gun. Dry means throw.
- Faction over loyalty. Junta into Amalgams.
- Captains before trash.
- Stims are health and adrenaline. Walking past a crate is a build mistake.
- Sprint is not part of Bullet-Time.
- Empty specials in the room you found them.
If two builds both feel bad, you are probably on the wrong difficulty or you have not finished Buried’s Shield pickup. If they both feel good, pick the one that matches the street: Shield for long volleys, Rushdown for interiors, Bullet-Time for captains you can see but not reach.
For enemy types that punish the wrong faction, see enemies. For FOV that makes sniper builds usable on a TV, see settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for FIVE's first hours in the Sprawl.
Can I save a loadout in SPRAWL zero?
No. You hold one gun. A build is an adrenaline habit and a swap rule, not a saved kit.
Which build is best for the demo?
Captain Hunter in The Graveyard, Return-to-Sender in Buried. Mix them once Shield unlocks.
Does difficulty change which build works?
Yes. Martyr punishes Door Kicker greed and missed stims. Unstoppable lets you practice Physics Gremlin without resetting every alley.
Should original SPRAWL movement mains play a certain way?
Do not import wall-run habits. This prequel is grounded. Shield and Bullet-Time are the new identity, not Icarus jumps.
