SPRAWL zero Demo Notes

The SPRAWL zero demo went live on Steam on June 9, 2026, timed with Steam Next Fest. MAETH shipped The Graveyard and Buried — not a shooting range, two campaign levels. That decision is why the demo has been useful. You leave with a kit, not a trailer hangover.

This page is the demo’s status board. Routes live on the demo walkthrough. Chapter names live on levels. Calendar lives on release date. Press temperature lives on preview.

What is in the build

  • Level 1: The Graveyard. Punch, disposable guns, Bullet-Time, a stealth sniper line, extraction.
  • Level 2: Buried. City streets, Gravity Shield, faction-coloured specials, Amalgams, a volley-heavy finish.
  • Difficulty names: Unstoppable, Formidable, Martyr. See difficulty.
  • The one-gun loop, Gravity Gloves, stims, scan-for-waypoint.

Rushdown availability can depend on how hard you explore. Do not assume a missed pickup means the demo is broken. Look again, then read abilities.

Reception, without inflating it

Public roundups described the demo as Overwhelmingly Positive. Around the August 11 date lock, coverage cited about 432 reviews at 95% positive; later roundups kept that 95% on a larger pile (on the order of 800+). Those numbers move. The qualitative point does not: people who wanted a 2000s squad shooter generally found one, and people who wanted 2023 SPRAWL parkour generally noticed the grounded change.

If you hated the original’s movement, this demo is the argument that MAETH heard you. If you loved the original’s movement, this demo is a different game with the same skyline. Story explains the prequel relationship; your hands will explain the rest in ten minutes.

What the demo is not

It is not the September 8 campaign. It is not Domination, Adusta Terra, God’s Light, Maeth, Eden, or Acrophobia. It is not a relic completionist list. It is not a forty-gun museum — you will see a sample, not a wiki table of every mastery path.

It is also not a two-player test. There is no second player. Steam’s feature list is single-player, achievements, family sharing, controller support.

Bugs and how to report them

MAETH asked for reports on Steam forums and Discord. That is still the right path. Typical UE5 demo noise: shader hitch on first courtyard, a corpse in a wall, a gun that fell under the map. Verify files before you write a novel. If Shield eats a volley and does not return it, say so with a clip; that is a combat bug worth a post. If you missed a throw bind, that is controls.

The demo executable has been seen under a Silas-themed name in install folders, which is lore-funny and not a virus. Do not delete it because the filename scared you.

Performance

Treat Buried as the benchmark, not the title screen. If Graveyard holds 60 and Buried does not, drop FOV a notch and read settings. Minimum GPU is a 1050 Ti class card on paper; the demo will tell you the truth in the first rain street.

Should you replay it before launch

Yes, once, with a different build. No, not ten times unless you enjoy it. The demo is a teacher. The campaign is the test on September 8, 2026. Keep the muscle memory: throw, pull, captain, Shield. That transfers. A memorized crate location might not.

When a demo patch lands, we will note it here. Until then, install it, finish Buried, and wishlist the full game from the links hub.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for FIVE's first hours in the Sprawl.

How do I download the SPRAWL zero demo?

From Steam. It is a free two-level preview attached to the SPRAWL zero store page. Console demos have not been the distribution path.

Does demo progress carry to the full game?

MAETH has not posted a guaranteed save migration we can cite. Play the demo to learn, not to bank a completion flag.

Why does the demo feel different from SPRAWL (2023)?

It is a grounded 2000s-console homage, not a parkour 90s pastiche. Same city, different number, different movement identity.

Is the demo still up?

It has stayed playable on Steam after Next Fest. If Steam ever pulls it, this page will change. Until then, install it.
